About TMJ
The temporomandibular joint connects the lower jaw to the skull in front of your ear. People suffering from Temporomandibular Joint Disorder or TMJ often find chewing to be an ordeal and may experience popping or clicking sounds as they eat. Facial pain, neck pain, and frequent headaches are just some of the other symptoms associated with this condition. Any number of factors may contribute to TMJ including arthritis, a physical trauma (a broken or dislocated jaw, whiplash, etc.), frequent teeth clenching, autoimmune disease, or an infection.

Neuromuscular Dentistry
Achieve a Better Bite with Neuromuscular Dentistry
Your teeth, muscles and joints determine how your upper and lower teeth bite together. If you have a misaligned bite, your muscles and joints work to get them to fit together. This can cause your muscles to overwork which may lead to pain.
Muscular dentistry looks at the entire system that controls the function and positioning of your jaw. At Medora Dental Care, our goal is to give you a neuromuscular bite, a jaw position based on a harmonious relationship between the teeth, muscles and jaw joints.
